Does you child love fashion? If so, this could be just the course for them. Aspiring fashionistas from 6 to 18 can express their creativity and have fun in this 4 day-long program! Each student receives individual instruction and guidance while creating their projects. Techniques used in camp include: hand sewing, machine sewing, embellishment, fashion illustration and inspiration boards. Students are encouraged to experiment with their creativity while developing skills. Camp runs Monday through Thursday with morning and afternoon sessions available.

Classes Tailor-Made for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Learners!

Looking to learn a new skill, have fun and be creative? Sewing is a great way to do all three! Reach Fashion is offering classes for students of all levels at 63 Wingate Street in Haverhill’s Arts District right next door to the Reach Fashion store. Classes scheduled throughout the week for all levels and projects will change to meet the needs of the students.

Course Information

Beginner I for students with no prior sewing experience will learn the basics of sewing, from basic terminology to getting comfortable with all the parts of a sewing machine and the basic stitching techniques. Students will create their own basic tote bag, headband, and skirt by the end of this 5 week session! All materials, including a basics handout for easy reference, included in the price of session.

Beginner II students who have completed the Beginner I session or who have been evaluated by our staff as having the skills comparable to those taught in the previous level. Students will create their own pillow or stuffed animal, designer tote bag, and one up-cycling project by the end of this 5 week session! All materials are included in the price of this session.

Intermediatefor students who have completed the Beginner I and Beginner II sessions, or who have been evaluated by our staff as having the skills comparable to those taught in the previous levels. Students will be taught the basics of patterns, sizing, and make their own pants, dress, and home décor item by the end of this 5 week session! Additional fabric may be purchased.

Advanced for students who have completed the Beginner I, Beginner II, and Intermediate sessions, or who have been evaluated by our staff as having the skills comparable to those taught in the previous levels. Students will become more familiar with more advanced patterns, creating their own patterns, and will learn the basics of zippers, elastic, appliques, and buttons. By the end of this 5 week session, students will have created their own commercial-quality piece of fashion! Some additional fabrics and supplies may be purchased.

Course Fees – All the courses above are $175 for five class session. All materials are included for Beginner 1 and 2 level classes and Fashion Camp. Intermediate and Advanced class students will need to supply their own material and some additional supplies. Sewing machines are available for your use in store. Payment can be made by cash or credit card at Reach Fashion. Gift certificates can also be purchased for sewing lessons.

Open Studio – Open to students of all levels who would like to work in the studio on a project of their own. Sewing machines and tools are available with assistance as needed. Just call to schedule a time. Open Studio fee is $45 for the first two hours and $15 for each additional hour per day.

What you’ll need: Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine, so you can learn how to use your machine to its potential. Don’t have your own machine? Sewing machines are available for your use in store. Although tools and supplies are available, each student is encouraged to put together their own basic sewing tool kit including; good scissors, tailor’s chalk, pins, safety pins and a tape measure. Most importantly, bring a great attitude and be ready for fun!
